KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. AE (Bronze, 16 mm, 4.20 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in western Asia Minor, struck under Philip III or Antigonos I, circa 323-310. Macedonian shield; on boss, head of Herakles facing slightly to left, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. B - A Wreathed Macedonian helmet. HGC 3.1, 962. Liampi, Chronologie, 98. Price 2801. A splendid example with a beautiful two-toned patina. Very light pitting, otherwise, extremely fine.
